Do you feel nurses have more to learn in today’s world in order to be safe and competent entry-level nurses? According to the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) we do. Recently NCSBN made the decision to raise the NCLEX-RN testing standards and make the exam more difficult. They did this by reviewing all available information to determine that new graduate nurses need a greater level of knowledge and skills in order to safely and effectively care for patients than was required in 2007 when the NCSBN had implemented the existing standard.
After reviewing the 2008 NCLEX test plan with the new 2010 version (found at https://www.ncsbn.org/1287.htm) I had a difficult time determining the difference between the two. One minor difference that I found was in the Management of Care category. 2008’s test had 13-19% of questions from this category while the 2010 version has 16-22%. So don’t forget to study appropriate delegation of tasks! It sounds like an easy category, but the questions can be very difficult and tricky if you are not well-prepared. The new exam will also have a higher passing standard and will most likely include more multimedia questions. When I took the NCLEX in December I had an audio question which was a complete surprise to me since I was unprepared for any other question besides text. So be ready for anything!
I have noticed that this change in the test has sent a shockwave of fear through nursing schools around the country. I felt it recently when I made a trip back to my nursing school. A few senior students came up to me and quizzed me on the NCLEX. Not only were they scared and nervous about graduating from nursing school and taking the NCLEX (as we all were!) they also expressed concerns over the rise in difficulty that they will face in June. The only advice that I could give them was to trust themselves and their knowledge.
So study as hard as you can -stress-out a little- and then let it all go. In nursing school we become really great at jumping through the hoops, so although some of you may feel ripped-off at having to study more and do better than my class did – just jump through the hoop and reach your end goal.
After all, you are proving that you are a competent, well-trained, and professional hoop-jumping entry-level nurse.

Individuals, as well as employers, need to be concerned about their future. If they are not more productive than those in off shore locations, they will see their jobs off shored. It will not going be easy for adults given that young people are growing up with “crib side PC”. In addition, adults will have to be as good as or better than the kids off shore. What needs to be leveraged are the advantages provided by experience, cultural understanding and communication in tandem with contextually appropriate new skills…………

This scares me. Here I am struggling to memorize biology and there seems like there is so much more that is so much harder! I work full time and have 4 kids and go to school at night and on the weekends. I have very little time to study.

I kindly agree that NCLEX-RN exam becoming harder when compare to 2007’s and below, one of the reasons for this is due to heavy competition between candidates. So we have to prepare from our side by thoroughly following updated nursing NCLEX RN review questions.
I know it has become harder but with all the information, resources and reviewers that we are posting online, we're pretty sure it will make nclex exam easier for student nurses.
Anybody interested in forex trading should take a look at this video. In the video he mentions a forex trading site... which in my opinion is the best site for currency trading. Have a look and you'll see what I mean --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnzESCa6vD8
Great Article, I also have gotten the tremendous amount of support for the Nclex.
When I took the Nclex in Hollywood it was very hard and frustrating, none of the questions was similar to what I have learned in the program.
But my nclex pass rate was sky high, It take alot of studying and confidence because you will never get the full effect.
While browsing the web, I saw a site that says NCLEX-CAT simulator. Does it really feels like taking the actual NCLEX CAT?
Saw it here http://www.nclexonline.com

This is not going to be a very popular posting i am afraid...i did not pass the NCLEX...I graduated with a 3.57 GPA from nursing school...Phi Theta Kappa...i just could not pass the test..i have and continue to work as an LPN because of this..i think the exam is rediculous...i think anyone who has spent 2 years in nursing school..who has graduated with an Associates Of Applied Science in Nursing should be allowed to practice as an RN...Does anyone even begin to comprehend the amt of money they are making on the NCLEX exam...add up all of the graduating nurses...and apply all of the fees associated with that...they are raking in the bucks on the backs of graduate nurses...I have never seen an exam where you cannot change your answer is you decide to...that you cannot skip an answer and then go back to it after you have had to think about it..I have RN's that say they could not pass it if they had to now....The literature tells you not to be concerened that a lot of nurses do not pass it the first time...what kind of exam is it that a lot of nurses do not pass it the first time but have graduated from a certified nursing program....I did not earn my degree online either..i went to a nursing school in Oregon..2 years or pre-reqs and 2 years of nursing...I will add..you can ask any physician that i work with and they will tell you i am a very good nurse and they trust me as they would any nurse...
